I’ve read looking for alaska and an abundance of catherines and I’m simply not a fan of the unconventionally-alluring-special-snowflake-girl-teaches-nerdy-oblivious-boy-all-about-love formula. I know that’s like the number one complaint about his work, but he just tries so hard to create these perfectly idiosyncratic characters that they become sort of tacky and tough to take in.
that being said, I like his general writing style (even if it is a little over the top) and I want to pick up the fault in our stars when it’s not like $25.
