I swear to god a fight almost broke out in my philosophy class tonight

there’s this easily agitated black girl who sits next to me and texts her boyfriend constantly and generally is pretty loud and sassy and then there’s this middle-aged woman who uh, I don’t really know what her problem is, but she tends to just stare at people and say really awkward things

and the tension between them has been like building throughout the entire class, the black girl always makes comments about the lady under her breath and the lady just gives her this really terrifying angry stare and moves across the room

and tonight I don’t even know what happened but the teacher had left the room for a while and the lady looks at the black girl and goes “you’re just a snivelling brat who thinks she’s all that and a bag of chips!”

and there’s this really

really uncomfortable silence where everybody wants to laugh but they can’t

because who even says that

but anyway I swore the girl was gonna get up and start beating her ass but she just got really mouthy and everyone in the room was like “ok let’s just settle down??”

and then after everything had died down the lady OPENS HER MOUTH AGAIN and goes “I bet you don’t even know how old I am”

I was genuinely terrified the entire time like my very first college class and I thought there was gonna be a brawl
